Chester Food Festival over Easter weekend

Chester is preparing for the finale of its eighth food festival and this year‘s promises to be the biggest event yet with 20,000 people expected. The festivities kicked off with a number of pre-events through March and April, and will culminate with a big event over Easter weekend at Chester Racecourse.

Events include a producers’ market, showing the district’s impressive variety of top quality produce, as well as a food court featuring Cheshire restaurants, children’s entertainment and music. The Leverhulme stand is host to the main where there will be seminars and cooking demonstrations.

Stephen Wundke, chairman of the festival, said: “Our region has an amazing wealth of fine foods and produce, as well as many fantastic eating and drinking venues. The aim of this festival is to encourage all the different sectors to work together to produce an event befitting this historic and exciting city, its residents and the tourists to our region.â€?

There will be demonstrations by chefs Simon Rimmer (pictured), Alan Coxon, Paul Askew and Andrew Nutter, as well as special eating offers at restaurants and delicatessens across the city.
