COFFEE BY DAY, TUNES BY NIGHT: Stockport's Ōdiobā set to host a welcome party later this month

10 May 2024

If you've yet to check out Ōdiobā, the coolest new spot nestled in the heart of the Stockport Underbanks, then you're going to want to swing by the welcoming party coming later this month on Thursday 23rd May.

Dubbed 'a coffee house by day and Audiophile Hi-Fi bar by evening', Ōdiobā will be serving a refined cocktail offering, artisan coffee and Shindigger on tap - all while being casually home to an elite hand-built audiophile sound system.

The cocktail menu includes six fruity and fresh concoctions, from the likes of ‘Chez Thai’, a blend of vodka, coconut, lychee, citrus, aperitif, orange, ‘De Peche Mode’ - pomegranate infused gin, peach, citrus, orange and fizz. ‘Mandarin Mule’ with Mandarin brandy, citrus, thyme, infused agave, amaro, ginger; ‘Kind of Blue’ with Pisco, citrus, elderflower, curacao; Maple’s Mark made of bourbon, apple and sultana infused maple syrup, and ‘Tannoy Gold’ with spiced rum, apple, apricot, citrus. The carefully selected wine list is inclusive of organic and vegan options.

The listening bar, which  is the latest concept by the team behind the beloved NAM which was based in Ancoats, is spread over three floors - making it a cosy destination for all occasions.

Each weekend sees the venue come alive, the Nam and Friends programme brings a rotation of disc jockeys each Friday and Saturday to take over the sound system, spinning jazz, funk, soul, house and everything in between. The high-quality sound system ensures that every note, every beat, and every lyric is delivered with clarity and precision, so guests can fully appreciate the artistry of the music.

The likes of Ad Hoc Records, Swales, Josh and Toby previously of Melodic Distraction, Rev. Austin Sherman, Be With Records, Joy Social, Andrea Trout and Adam Aitch have graced the decks in recent weekends. To come, Yadava, All Kinds of Joy, Black Bees Soul Club Presents, Ruf Dug, Emma Plant Shop and much more. All upcoming listings can be found here.

And it's not just tunes and selectors as a pub quiz will be hosted every fortnight, calling all music maestros and trivia buffs for a night of brain-busting fun with @quizzedbycooper. With themed rounds, groovy beats, and epic prizes, it’s the ultimate audio quiz experience.

The next quiz falls on Thursday the 30th May, so get that in the diary.

Founders Nam Tran & Lauren Lane said on the opening: “We’re absolutely buzzed to be here and to share the street with some incredible independent neighbours. We’re hoping those who have shared the journey with us so far will continue to do so down on the cobbles. For now we’re offering coffee and tea in the daytime, before dimming the lights for booze and beats in the evening.

“We’ve got some exciting plans for the space too, we want to channel our passion for film into hosting regular cinema nights upstairs. Spotlighting some of our favourite indie films, from old Hong Kong and Japanese cinema to music documentaries, a whole variety really! So keep your eyes peeled for that too.”
