Disco Soup is cooking up a storm this Weekend

18 June 2015 by Lucy Lovell

This Saturday (June 20) attendees of Disco Soup will peel, chop, stir and shake to the beat as they cook and eat a fabulous feast made entirely from food that would otherwise have gone to waste.

The event will be split into two;

The day (1pm - 8pm) will include art, activities, games and education about food waste and food poverty, and will also host the main event, the “Disco Soup” cooking party. We’ll be joined by a cavalcade of chefs from across the North West to support the public in making a huge range of delectable dishes out of ingredients destined for the dump.

The evening (8pm - 1am) - We’ve partnered with Shebeen and GRUB Manchester to bring you an evening of live bands, DJ’s, beers, cocktails, food and dancing. We’re taking over all 3 floors of the Wonder Inn on Shudehill to bring you an awesome party with a purpose. They’re selling out quick – so get your evening tickets here.

The whole event will use approx half a tonne of food that would otherwise have gone to waste.

The fun festival event will also be linking with local homelessness support causes Mad Dogs Street Project and Coffee4Craig. The event will aim to cook up to 200 extra portions of food during the festival, which will be loaded up on bike trailers, ridden by volunteers from Foodcycle Manchester, in an effort to feed people sleeping rough.
