Eight dishes, eight wines at Linen

30 June 2009

Linen restaurant at Manchester 235 is putting on a wine evening for those people who have an idea of what they like but would like to expand their knowledge. For £30, guests can enjoy eight different wines paired with eight very different dishes.

With some classic wines, some common wines and some different wines they will be showing guests how best to enjoy each with some fantastic culinary partners.

This will include an introduction and advice from Selfridge’s top sommelier Zon Moua who will be dispelling some myths and breaking down the barriers to make wine accessible.

Using examples from Linen’s wine list they aim to show how the theory and complexities of wine are not bound simply by the rare and expensive but are accessible for all tastes and budgets.

Fancy a hint at what you can expect? This should whet your appetite and tingle your taste buds.

1. You will start with an Amontillado dry old sherry to accompany gazpacho
2. The next combination will be Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc with crayfish caesar salad
3. Then a Delicato Family Vineyards Zinfandel Rose, USA, 2007 to compliment North Indian vegetable thali
