EL CAMINO MEXICAN TO TACOVER URMSTON BURGER JOINT ALL FEBRUARY

28 January 2019 by Neil Sowerby

EL Camino is bringing Mexican vibes to Urmston for the whole of February, taking over popular beer and burger joint Get Chucked. Their pop-up menu will offer a variety of tacos, burritos, big and small plates, served with a beer and cocktail menu to match.

Expect dishes such as Baja Fish Tacos with shredded cabbage, red onion & avo hot sauce; Short Rib Quesadillas with chillis, loads of cheese and red onion; and Masa Fried Chicken Torta with habanero aioli, on toasted ciabatta.

Plus there will be homemade hot sauces, guac prepped to order, a weekly special Burrito, and plenty of veggie options too.

As well as food, El Camino will be offering late night drinks every Friday and Saturday, with Frozen Margaritas, a great range of beers, tequila and mezcal through until 1am.

The team behind El Camino are from a street food background, having traded in the past with original Mancunian street food party pioneers Guerrilla Eats, Street Feast in London and Trinity Kitchen Leeds under a previous guise.

Sancho Poder of El Camino said ‘We are really excited about the dining scene in Urmston at the moment but it is clear there is still the demand for new and exciting food experiences here in the suburbs. We had originally planned to open in the town centre last year but couldn't agree final terms on the lease so we’re doing a pop-up while we wait for the right space.

“We know the guys at Get Chucked from the street food scene and they were happy to lend us their new space, and staff, so we can properly showcase our ideas. We can’t wait to get into the kitchen for our Mexican taco-ver!’

There has recently been a big food and drink resurgence in Urmston, with the regeneration of Urmston Market, and new local independents opening all the time, such as Kin Bakehouse and The Assembly Beerhouse.

Food hall Market 41 is also set to open in the South Manchester suburb soon, and is expected to focus on independent artisans and small restaurants.
