Following a demand for unique experiences in the city, Manchester’s first five-star hotel, The Lowry Hotel, is on the hunt for a new ‘guest experience’ manager. The recruitment selection process for this unique role features a Manchester citizenship quiz and a hosted tour of the city with the hotel’s general manager.
The successful candidate must live and breathe Manchester and is required to have a wealth of knowledge based around what’s going on in the city, whilst ensuring each guest has everything they require during their stay at the hotel.
To test the Mancunian knowledge of each candidate, the job interview process will involve a number of knowledge and personality tasks. This includes a Manchester quiz covering questions on old and new Mancunian myths, historic landmarks, music and culture. Do you know the history behind the Science and Industry Museum? Can you name all four original members of Oasis? Why has the bee become a significant symbol of Manchester Bee? If you know the answers, you might be the right one for the job.
Applicants must also be ready to recommend and map out their favourite brunch, lunch and dinner spots in the city, the top bars for cocktails and to provide estimations on how long it takes to walk from the Lowry hotel to each venue.
The selection process also includes a hosted tour of Manchester city centre where applicants will take general manager of the hotel, Adrian Ellis, on a tour of the city and point out key landmarks whilst providing fun facts about the city.
From the classic cobbled streets of centuries past, to the very latest editions on the thriving hospitality scene and the culturally progressive goings-on that cement Manchester’s reputation as one of the UK’s leading cosmopolitan hotspots, the position requires a passion for all things that the city has to offer.
The successful candidate will oversee the hotel’s new experiences programme – designed to deliver personal tailored, once-in-a-lifetime experiences to guests staying at the hotel. Utilising relationships curated with local businesses, the guest experience manager, will create a programme that showcases the best of Manchester’s hidden gems and offer guests unique experiences which cannot be booked from a phone.
Adrian Ellis, General Manager at The Lowry Hotel, said: “As Manchester’s first five-star hotel, each team member plays a crucial role in representing what we are all about, which is delivering excellent five-star service with a love for everything Manchester.
“As we progress out of the pandemic, it’s promising to see customer demand for unique experiences in the city and we’re looking forward to growing our team of Manchester hospitality professionals.
“Nowadays, you can book everything from the comfort of your phone including transport, tickets to a show or concert and restaurant reservations, however it’s the hidden gems, off the beaten track that people are growing increasingly interested in experiencing when visiting a new city.
“Our new guest experience manager will manage a programme of unique experiences for our guests and be the number one port of call for all Manchester based queries or questions.
