We were keen on trying out Embankment Kitchen's all-new cosy and heartwarming festive menu which just launched this week so we headed over there to try it out for ourselves.
Beautifully lit with baubles and holly framing our booth, the Chapel Street eatery started us off with a lovely bottle of Les Mougeottes Pinot Noir from their extensive wine list priced at a reasonable £34.
If you fancy something more festive, Embankment Kitchen has also included a handful of Christmas cocktails too on the new menu too.
We opted for the equally reasonably-priced Festive Set Menu which offers two courses for £31 or three for £40 and includes a Christmas cracker and a glass of fizz or bottled beer on arrival for each guest.
Diners have the choice from roasted tomato and basil soup, pigs in blankets, roast chicken and pheasant terrine and mussels cooked in white wine cream broth.
Going for the vegetarian and pescatarian choices, we were seriously surprised with just how much flavour the soup packed with its basil pesto topping which cut through the richness of the tomatoes.
Served alongside crusty bread with whipped butter, this was a proper good start to the meal.
We also tried out the mussels complete with a rich shallot cream and lemon choice - also served with that same crusty bread which made for the perfect mopping utensil to soak up that sauce.
Carefully crafted dishes like the slow-roast sirloin beef, pan-seared red mullet and roast chestnut and wild mushroom gnocchi were included in the main courses but the stand-out was no doubt the turkey ballotine.
Featuring turkey breast filled with stuffing and wrapped in smoked bacon, this dish is a gleaming example of Embankment Kitchen doing what it does best - hearty classics.
Served alongside duck fat roasties, pigs in blankets, honey-roasted carrots and parsnips alongside a massive Yorkshire pudding with a healthy dose of gravy, this is definitely a roast which packs a punch.
If you're like us and need something sweet after a meal, then you'll be happy to hear there are four options when it comes to the dessert menu.
Our favourites were, no doubt, Embankment Kitchen's signature sticky toffee pudding served with butterscotch sauce and vanilla ice-cream as well as the winter apple and plum crumble which balanced the tart with the sweet beautifully - courtesy of the homemade vanilla custard.
You can also try out the Embankment Kitchen homemade Christmas pudding with brandy sauce or the ice-cream and sorbets on offer that day.
The new menu, which is now available, also introduces a show-stopping addition of the all-new festive sharing board called the Festive Feast.
Coming in at £80 a pop, the feast is a Christmas dinner centrepiece for the table featuring succulent roast sirloin, turkey ballotine, glazed pigs in blankets, roast chicken leg, duck fat roast potatoes, and a bounty of festive vegetables with all the trimmings.
If you're more into seafood, opt for the Fisherman's Feast (£75) which showcases moules marinière, tempura king prawns, smoked mackerel pâté, crispy fish goujons, pan-fried red mullet, and more, served with an array of accompaniments.
Led by Chef Josh Singleton, this latest menu for winter highlights Embankment's commitment to sourcing the finest local ingredients and creating dishes that capture the essence of the season.
And, to celebrate the launch of this menu, there’s 10% off from 11th November - 17th November.
