Fire at Yang Sing

1 August 2012

In the early hours of Monday morning Yang Sing had a fire in their basement kitchen that began between 2-3am. The restaurant is working hard to re-open on an alternative floor and aims to be operational for the weekend.

When the fire began there were two members of staff in the building who were part of the maintenance and cleaning team; the emergency services were contacted and both parties emerged unscathed.

The damage to the basement kitchen is fairly extensive and although the fire itself was isolated to one half of the kitchen, the effects of the smoke are far reaching. The basement dining room was untouched but does smell rather smoky. It is believed the fire started accidentally but at this stage they are unable to pinpoint the cause.

Yang Sing are saddened to have had to cancel on diners who were booked in during this week and would like to offer their sincerest apologies for not being able to feed you, they hope that it will not deter you from dining with them in the future.

They wish to thank everyone who has sent messages of support, which have been greatly encouraging whilst the Yang Sing team and their partners endeavour to re-open the restaurant to the public.
