TATTU’S soft launch is now under way in the build-up to its official unveiling to the press on Thursday, May 7. That’s Election Day and Taste of Manchester is definitely giving its vote to this exotic Spinningfields newcomer.
That’s on the evidence of some amazing images of decor and food being leaked from this Gartside Street restaurant/bar. Split over two floors, Tattu has a capacity for 200 in the downstairs bar and a 130-cover fine dining restaurant upstairs.
The venue has been designed to take customers on a visual journey across three separate areas, each drawing decorative influence from different styles of body art.
The launch statement revealed: “Inspired by the strong conceptual restaurants found on America’s west coast, brothers Adam and Drew Jones have utilised this design model to build the foundation of their offering, with their inspiration influencing everything from the interior design to the menu itself.”
The designer is Edwin Pickett of Living Ventures and Neighbourhoood fame; the Orient is the inspiration for the food offering. Hence both the head chef and head dim sum chef have been sourced from the Hakkasan Group, responsible for many of London’s most celebrated Asian restaurants including Hakkasan, HKK, Yauatcha and Sake No Hana.
Cocktails are in the capable hands of Susie Wong. We hope the much-travelled mixologist will utilise some of Macclesfield’s phenomenal Forest Gin, for which she is brand ambassador.
We’ll let you know what we think about the food and cocktails soon enough. Meanwhile, enjoy the look:
