THERE should be a celebratory mood at the latest Foodie Friday around Stockport Market Square (Friday, June 29). The organisers have been nominated for the second time for Best Pop Up Event or Project in the Manchester Food and Drink Awards, a category they won in 2016.
Three of the regular contributors to the event are also up for 2018 Best Street Food, Oh/Mei/Dumpling, Lord of the Pies and Nasi Lemak Manchester alongside, in the shortlists, four Stockport businesses that have triumphed previously at the Awardst – The Allotment Vegan Restaurant, Where The Light Gets In, Heaton Hops and Chaat Cart. (Full Awards shortlists)
As usual hundreds of folk will pack the old town streets for Foodie Friday with its huge range of food and drink, but it’s not the only feast in town this weekend.
The Viva! Vegan Festival is on at the Cheshire Conference Centre on Saturday, June 30, from 10.30am to 5pm with 60 stalls and an array of plant-based hot and cold food with cooking demos and nutritional advice for those converting to the vegan lifestyle.
