FRANCO MANCA FEED THE HOMELESS WITH PIZZA AND SOURDOUGH LOAVES

11 December 2019

IT really is a case of Santa Manca as Neapolitan sourdough pizza pioneers Franco Manca step up their Christmas charity initiatives. The chain, newcomers to Manchester, traditionally donate up to 40,000 pizzas to the homeless during December.

Now Franco Manca have pledged to turn surplus dough into fresh sourdough bread for those most in need this festive season and beyond, right across 2020.

At the launch on Monday, December 9 the business promised to distribute loaves to local soup kitchens, charities, food banks and shelters across the UK. Arrange a collection via francomanca.co.uk/donations. The project supports Franco Manca’s plans to reduce food waste. Diners are already asked to not leave their crusts and offered a chance to take home leftovers.

Franco Manca’s 200-year-old sourdough starter has been the cornerstone of the Neapolitan-inspired pizzeria since its inception in 2008, with fresh pizza dough being made on site each day by its pizzaioli.
