Manchester mixologists, The Liquorists, launch the Kowloon Correspondents Club pop up bar, in association with Belvedere Vodka this Thursday. Open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday until Christmas, the former Kitchen Restaurant site at Barton Arcade, Deansgate, is going to be transformed into something that sounds pretty special.
The name hints at the kind of retro luxury drinkers can expect. Set in 1930s Kowloon, Hong Kong, the concept aims to transport guests back to the decadent glory days of the Pearl of the Orient - a time when cocktails reigned supreme. The aim is to reinstate the art of the cocktail hour, with the bar offering bespoke cocktails and classic blends in a colonial setting.
Look out for a "vodka martini station" with built-in seats, a highlight being the house special three Martini lunch. From 5pm-7pm, guests on a budget can get involved too, with a range of classic and new mixes for half price. The lounge area will be decorated with lacquered oriental tables and will host free interactive 'Cocktail Ritual Masterclasses'. These sessions include two cocktails and the chance to taste Belvedere Lemon Tea - a UK exclusive. Masterclasses are free but places are limited. To reserve your place email [email protected]. Book online at www.theliquorists.com/KCC.
From Thu 7 Nov, Kowloon Correspondents Club, Barton Arcade, off Deansgate, Thu - Sat until Christmas 2013, 5pm-midnight, www.theliquorists.com
