Coffee cupping is like wine tasting but with extra va-va-voom - and the Northern Quarter's fabulous Icelandic themed bar, Takk, hosts its first cupping event this weekend. Guests can sample different Workshop brand coffees and learn to identify the different growing regions and roasting styles. Takk is one of the only coffee shops in Manchester stocking Workshop Coffee, so this is a great opportunity for fans of this particular smooth stuff.
What is cupping?
Cupping is a method of evaluating the characteristics of a particular coffee bean. Cupping enables tasters to compare and contrast coffees, and helps to give a better understanding of each coffee. It also allows aficionados to taste the coffee in its basic form and appreciate some of the finer points, which can differ from bean to bean, depending on the region from which it is harvested. No prior experience of cupping is necessary - just turn up and take part.
