Free party time as poet Mike salutes the Oxford Road Corridor – home to 'new' Hatch

WE”VE given you the full tasty lowdown on indie food and retail hub Hatch tripling in size. So if you liked what you read about all the new traders on board get down to the Oxford Road site for a very special, FREE Summer Party on Wednesday, July 3.

Awaiting you will be  spectacular evening of music and poetry, showcasing the expanded site’s virtues as a n entertainment destination.

The line-up includes an exclusive performance by Mike Garry and the Cassia String Quartet, debuting a new poem dedicated to the Oxford Road Corridor and unveiling other works from his new collection.

Mike has worked with artists from John Cooper Clarke to Iggy Pop and it was his collaboration with the RNCM-based Cassia which earned him a number one single in the UK charts with their ‘Ode To Saint Anthony’ (a tribute to the late Tony Wilson) and raised money for the Christie Hospital.

Also on the bill is Salford born singer/songwriter Ren Harvieu, fresh from completing her second studio album. Ren has performed with an array of artists including Tom Jones, US rapper Nas, and the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra.

Jeff O’Toole, a regular DJ on Manchester’s nightlife scene, will also be bringing the vibes with a set before and after the live music performances.

 The event will kick off at 5pm with all the independent shop, food and drink businesses open. The expanded 11,480 sq ft space is now home to more than 10 new retailers, indoor restaurants, kiosk style units, bars, pop ups, rooftop terraces, creative workspace, event spaces, a live music stage and a double decker bus (serving Vietnamese-style banh mi baguettes).
