French Cote Brasserie to open off Deansgate in Manchester

25 February 2014

This April sees a new host for the former Prohibition bar on St Mary's Street. It's a branch of the successful casual French dining chain, Cote Brasserie   - think Cafe Rouge for the 2010s - with simple grey paintwork and a paired down aesthetic. The restaurant is a first for the chain which has nearly 50 branches across the country in Manchester. According the MEN, more than £1m has been spent updating the interior and creating an authentic contemporary French eaterie vibe, spread over two floors. As it common in Paris, the main restaurant will be downstairs, at street level, while upstairs will be home to private dining.

Poulet Breton

Described by the Good Food Guide as serving "robust French flavours" and offering "brilliant value for money", the menus are not huge, but offering a traditional selection of French favourites. The trademark 'Poulet Breton', served as a half chicken with a choice of sauces like Provencale or wild mushroom. There's a slow-cooked beef bourguignon with potato and chive puree as well as favourites like cassoulet, roast duck, Nicoise salad and creme brulee.

From April 2014, Cote Brasserie, 2-10 St Mary's Street, off Deansgate, M3 2LB. www.cote-restaurants.co.uk
