EAT your brioche heart out, Patisserie Valerie, there’s a far better pâtisserie offering looming on Deansgate. One that’s not a flaky chain, just a natural extension of an award-winning top-notch operation in the suburbs.
Didsbury’s Bisous Bisous was named best UK producer in the 2017 Observer Food Monthly Awards – a reward for three years of hard graft for Alex (63 Degrees) Moreau and Kirsty McAlpine in their tiny shop.
Ambition was already there with a successful outlet on Altrincham Market, a concession in Selfridge’s and supplying their Didsbury neighbour Hispi.
Now they have announced their Deansgate opening for the end of April. Sandwiched between Waterstine’s and Valerie, it will be a high profile showcase for their pastries, macarons, eclairs, and tartelettes that should introduce them to a new raft of fans.
Patisserie of this quality doesn’t come cheap. Getting customers to recognise the value of their products was tricky, Alex told OFM. “In Paris, it’s different, but here people were like, ‘I can get four eclairs for £1 in Tesco’.” ToM says: buy your eclairs at Bisous Bisous.
