TASTE of Manchester isn’t really a portal to promote jewellery making… or pottery (unless we are eating out of it). But in support of Full Fat we are making an exception. It’s a one-day food, drink music and craft extravaganza on Saturday, August 4, which sees exponents from each Manchester scene join forces to raise money for two fine causes – Greater Manchester Keep Our NHS Public and Headway - the brain injury association. The event is held in memory of John-Paul Cassidy – a much-loved craft beer champion, fashion industry figure and outspoken NHS supporter.
Food comes from a roll call of Manchester’s finest street traders – Pollen Bakery, Idle Hands, La Cucina (the Mediterranean-inspired sister company of Honest Crust Sourdough Pizza), ChouChoux patisserie and more.
The beers lined up are equally impressive – Beatnikz Republic, Blackjack, Cloudwater, Magic Rock, Marble, Moravka Lager, Pomona Island, Runaway, Six O’Clock, Squawk, Thirst Class, Torrside, Track, Wander Beyond. They’ll be served alongside a natural wine from London's Wines Under The Bonnet and Manchester's own love + labour.
Leading local DJs will provide the soundtrack to the day, including Duncan Sime, Joe Bird, Jeff O'Toole, Scott Taylor, SMS plus funk and soul superstars Howling Rhythm.
Oh yes and you can try your hand at throwing your own pot at a 1-2-1 beginners throwing workshop with Jo Hartley of PLANT Noma, 1pm to 6pm (preferably before the beer kicks in) or learn how to make clay jewellery with Aliyah Hussain where you can make at least two necklaces to take home. 6pm-8pm. For either a £25 donation on the day is suggested, shared between the event’s twin charities. For Pottery book here; for Jewellery here.
