NEW York-based experimental animator Andrew Salomone is running a free workshop at the Northern Quarter’s Ply bar on Thursday, July 9 – an extension of his ‘Pizzoetrope’ project, which uses pizza dough, record decks and strobe lighting to create the illusion of motion. Confused? Well, you’ll get to creating your own animations on slip mats and then recreate these animations on pizzas fresh out of the Ply oven.
You even get to eat the pizza afterwards and refreshment is guaranteed, too, thanks to the bar’s art sponsor, Absolut. After the launch, Andrew’s exhibition, Ravenous Apparitions, featuring installations and finished animations, will run until August 30.
PLY Restaurant, 26 Lever Street, Northern Quarter, M1 1DW, 6pm. Places limited, booking required, www.eventbrite.com
