Get ready to dust off your tongs, don your apron and dig out your charcoal for a celebration of the Great British barbecue. National Barbecue Week kicks off on Monday, May 25 and while the weather may not be sizzling, the sausages are sure to during this annual event.
Now in its thirteenth year, the seven-day celebration aims to get us Brits braving the forecast and firing up the coals for an al-fresco feast. The event also hopes to encourage budding barbecuers to try something new by swapping the sirloin steaks for swordfish steaks or the bought-in burgers for homemade versions to create a more exciting experience.
National Barbecue Week also forms part of the thirteenth Gastro Alfresco Campaign - a national celebration of alfresco summer eating, entertaining and barbecuing. As part of the event, Gastro Alfresco is launching a road show that will visit local supermarkets to offer barbecuing tips, tasty samples and information on alfresco eating.
The Alfesco Experience Road Show will be at Tesco Altrincham on Friday, May 29, Tesco Irlam on Saturday, May 30, Sainsburyâs Salford on Sunday, May 31, Sainsburyâs Hazel Grove on Sunday, June 7 and Tesco Oldham on Saturday, June 13.
