Get your chic fix at The Yacht Club

25 April 2012

New to Spinningfields, The Yacht Club pop up bar starts the summer in style, with a roster of cocktail-laden events.

Having set up home in one of the city’s favourite sun traps, Hardman Square in Spinningfields, The Yacht Club first will be kicking off the season with "El Jimadors Tequila Party".

The spicy tipple will hop on deck at 2pm on Saturday 5 May, bring a taste of Mexico to Manchester. Enjoy bespoke cocktails, including the Paloma D’or - a blend of El Jimador Reposado, fresh lime juice and lengthened with Ting grapefruit crush - as well as entertainment, music and dancing. Dress code, is Mexican (durrr) so time to get digging in the closet for that sombrero.

On Wednesday 16 May, The Yacht Club and herbal liquor, Chartreuse, host an unusual party. Take a trip back to the Chartreuse monastery dating from the 1700 from which this liquor gets its name, and sample Chartreuse-infused cocktails. Look out, in particular, for the ‘Green Elixir’, the Yacht Club’s Chartreuse take on the Mojito.

Hollywood style

Back in the 1950s, the French Riviera was the summer playground of world leaders, glamour girls, actresses, playboys and the rich and famous. In short, the place to party. And for the duration of the summer, The Yacht Club aims to harness this spirit in a setting complete with wooden decks and leather day beds.

As well as beers, wines and ciders, the Yacht Club serves classic cocktails such as the Boardwalk Bramble; a fruity combination of Bombay Sapphire gin, lemon juice, a little sugar and finished with a drizzle crème de mure liqueur; The Bardot and Monte Carlo Mint Julep. The bar is open 7 days from midday until 11pm.

Just next door, you can catch a movie at Spinningfields popular Screenfields events. Click http://www.spinningfieldsonline.com/screenfields for full listings which include acclaimed documentary, Senna, and family favourites such as Big, starring Tom Hanks.
