GET YOUR TICKETS FOR MFDF’S THIRD HIDDEN BANQUET – 'TV BY MILKJAM' AT OLD GRANADA STUDIOS

2 September 2016 by Neil Sowerby

THE third event to be announced in Manchester Food and Drink Festival’s Hidden Banquet series is on sale from 9am on Friday, September 2. Definitely one for the sweet-toothed,  “TV” by MilkJam is taking place at Old Granada Studios on Thursday, October 6.
The Hidden Banquets series, programmed in partnership with developers Allied London, allows festival-goers to explore some of the city’s secret, undiscovered and down right jaw dropping spaces, in association with the nation’s most talented and exciting chefs and food heroes, all in the context of Manchester’s cultural identity and heritage.

“TV” by MilkJam definitely lives up to this remit – a six course experimental dessert banquet for 75 people at the birthplace of independent TV in Manchester – the site for Allied London's new St John's neighbourhood.

MilkJam is a confectionery/gelato supergroup consisting of Claire ‘Ginger’s Comfort Emporium’ Kelsey, Charlotte ‘BakeOrama’ O’Toole and Nicki ‘Lush Brownies’ Griffiths. Our picture shows Claire with one of her creations – an ice cream cake. Follow them @MilkJamMCR

The trio have recently taken up a year-long dessert and milk bar residency in the St James Building on Oxford Road and are famed around the country for their breathtakingly delicious and experimental sweet treat creations.

Their six course dinner will consist entirely of the kind of desserts that the three women are famous for, but thanks to the creative approach from each, the experience will provide a stunning dinner for any fully rounded palate.

The “TV Dinner” will be themed around telly and specifically, the ground-breaking body of work that has come out of Granada Studios since its first broadcast in 1956. It will take place in OGS works, St. John's new co-work space and other areas on the St. John's site.

Fittingly OGS Works was once home to the Granada Canteen, where the cast of Coronation Street and entertainment’s most famous faces used to dine. The area will be transformed for the evening to create the perfect ‘TV Dinner’.
Guests are invited to come dressed as their favourite Granada TV character for the chance to win a prize. Expect an evening of fabulous food, music, TV and surprises, all of which will celebrate Manchester’s huge contribution to the Box

A donation from tickets will be made to Forever Manchester, The Community Foundation for Greater Manchester.

There are 75 tickets for the banquet, priced at £55 including cocktails. Tickets are available here – and when they’re gone they’re gone!
