Goal! New restaurant to open at National Football Museum

19 June 2012

Celebrity chef Frank Bordoni is bringing a new contemporary British restaurant and cocktail bar to Manchester, set to open within the new National Football Museum.

Located in the crystalline Urbis building, in the space that was former home to The Modern restaurant and cocktail bar, the new restaurant launches when the National Football Museum opens on 6 July.

As those who frequented the Modern will recall, panoramic views are part of the package from the top floor of the 35 metre high landmark building in the heart of Cathedral Gardens.

Local talent

British cuisine is the menu focus, created using local produce plus influences from further afield, drawing on Bordoni’s background training with the Roux brothers and Brian Turner of Ready Steady Cook fame as well as slots on UKTV Food and Saturday Kitchen.

He is joined in the kitchen by Paul Riley, originally from Rochdale, who will be the restaurant’s executive head chef and whose previous appointments include stints at Nutters.

Drinks fans are set to be well catered for with a bespoke cocktail bar on the sixth floor.
