AS charity cook-offs go it sounds more like a wrestling match, but you can expect some of the best food in town when Gobby Chef comes up against the Drunken Butcher on the former’s home patch, the Beef and Pudding in Manchester city centre on Wednesday, September 2.
@GobbyChef is the Twitter name of David Mooney, celeb chef and co-owner of the New Moon chain of gastropubs, which has seven venues across the North West; the Drunken Butcher (@drunkenbutcher) is Whalley Range-based Iain Devine (below), one of the hardest working supper club and catering events organisers around.
For the dinner, in aid of Action Against Hunger each chef is creating a three course menu. Tickets are available at £29.50 per person in batches of 2, 4, 6 or 8 with one of each menu between two people. The event will run from 7.30pm o 11pm.
Iain tells TOM that If you’re on your own, or have an odd number in your party let them know and they’ll try to hook you up with likeminded souls. At the end of the meal there will be a chance to meet the chefs and to vote for their favourite menu.
To book ring Beef and Pudding on 0161 237 3733. One pound per ticket will be donated to Action Against Hunger.
