GOOD CAUSE: Motley launches new cocktail with every penny going to Manchester Women's Aid

9 July 2026 by Rhiannon Ingle

Manchester city centre bar and restaurant, Motley, is raising a glass to one of the city's most inspirational women by launching a special limited-edition cocktail in honour of Emmeline Pankhurst's birthday.

Our Emmeline, created by the expert team at Motley, is a fresh take on the classic Blue Lady cocktail, available from next week (15 July) for a limited time only to celebrate the birthday of the Manchester-born suffragette, political activist and icon.

100% of the £12.50 cost of every Our Emmeline sold will be donated to Manchester Women's Aid, the charity that provides vital support to women and children escaping domestic abuse and is based at the historic Pankhurst Centre, which is located in the former home of Emmeline Pankhurst and her family in Manchester.

Our Emmeline is a refreshing, zingy serve that perfectly balances sweet orange, botanicals and tart citrus. It contains Martin Miller's Gin, Blue Curaçao, and fresh citrus and is a stunning, vibrant blue. Perfect for an after-work sip on the wrap-around terrace at Motley.

Had she been alive today, Emmeline Pankhurst would have celebrated her 168th birthday on 15 July 2026. More than a century and a half after leading the campaign that helped secure women the right to vote, her influence continues to shape Manchester and inspire generations.

Victor Gonzalez, F&Bbar manager at Motley said: “Our venue has always celebrated the great and good of Manchester and few come much greater than Emmeline Pankhurst. We wanted to mark her birthday in a way that reflects her legacy and directly helps a charity which is so closely connected to her story, Manchester Women’s Aid.”

Emma Richman, chair of the heritage committee at Manchester Women’s Aid, added: “We are delighted that Motley has decided to create a special cocktail to celebrate Emmeline Pankhurst. This will help to further preserve her legacy and help us continue all the fantastic work we do at The Pankhurst Centre to champion women's equality and inspire future generations.”
