Weâve had Brew Dog, Black Dog and The Yacht Club opening their doors during April and May â and the new arrivals continue this month.
Manchesterâs award-winning Trof group unleash Gorilla on Whitworth Street this Friday, June 2nd. Meanwhile, cocktail fans will be able to shake their martinis at the Summer House, a new pop-up bar in Exchange Square.
Trofâs new baby is called Gorilla, and itâs been a long time coming. The owners took over the lease for the venue that was formerly the Green Room theatre last year and have been chiseling away at the property ever since.
As with all Trof bars (The Deaf Institute, Trof in the Northern Quarter, the Salutation and more) the interior is a treat with reclaimed objects and comfy booths creating a welcoming yet funky atmosphere day and night.
Gorilla will also be serving posh tucker well into the night â the aim is until 1am â with a post-pub or comfort food menu that is likely to include designer pizzas and kebabs.
Thereâs a âgin parlourâ for connoisseurs to explore on the upper deck of the old Green Room bar, not to mention a 600-person capacity venue opening behind the bar from around September.
Exchange Square
Summer House is a primary coloured âpopâupâ bar, open for the next 18 weeks in Exchange Square.
Inspired by Europeâs âpop artâ gardens, Summer House replaces the Manchester Wheel with a pavilion bar and garden serving long drinks, mezze, salads and more.
The clear-roofed pavilion, surrounded by white picket fencing works is tonic to the concrete and glass of the city. Features include sun loungers and âWatering Can cocktailsâ.
Sports fans are going to love this new place: itâs the ideal place to catch the Olympics, Wimbledon or Formula 1 as the BBC big screen at Exchange Square is within easy viewing distance.
The Summer House is open now, from 11am to 11pm. Gorilla opens this Friday 1 June, 54-56 Whitworth Street West, M1 5WW. thisisgorilla.com.
