Handmade pasta and jazz quartets: New Spinningfields restaurant set to open this autumn

22 February 2024 by Rhiannon Ingle

There's a brand-new restaurant and musical venue from the Permanently Unique Group set to open later this year.

From the people behind Tattu and Fenix, the new restaurant, named Louis, is said to be a love letter to the Italian-American restaurants of New York, set against a backdrop of nightly musical performances.

An ode to the classic New York restaurants which are often portrayed on the silver screen as a home from home, Louis will welcome guests into an intimate booth, surrounded by quietly excellent cooking and perfectly mixed cocktails, whilst live performances provide the soundtrack to the evening.

Guests can look forward to dining on a menu developed and overseen by Executive Chef Ippokratis Anagnostelis, who recently launched Fenix - although the food at Louis will be entirely different. Ippokratis brings a deep understanding of how the Mediterranean influence has shaped Italian American cuisine, and as such the menu will focus on a concise range of classic dishes made with exceptional produce. Even better? Handmade fresh pasta will be made onsite from a dedicated pasta workshop adjacent to the Louis kitchen.

The restaurant will host a weekly roster of performers from soul singers and pianists, to jazz quartets and full swing bands with each evening proving an entirely new experience. With that said, however, the familiar feeling of being at Louis, amongst friends, will be a constant.

Louis will open in Manchester’s Spinningfields in autumn 2024
