WEDNESDAY, November 1, is World Vegan Day, a plant-based antidote to Halloween without the fake (or any kind of) blood. Widespread celebrations will only confirm what a year it has been locally for vegans, culminating at Manchester Food and Drink Awards where Best Restaurant went to Bundobust and Best Chef to Matthew Nutter of Stockport's groundbreaking Allotment.
Now even the festive season is getting in on the act. Vegan Xmas EXTRAVAGANZO is the brainchild of Jackie Kearney (aka The Hungry Gecko) and Charlotte (BakeO’rama) O’Toole. The pair have re-imagined everyone’s Christmas favourites into the ‘vegan xmas dinner of your life’, all 15 courses of it, to be served at RedbankCo on Friday, December 1 – plus festive fun and games.
It’s a fascinating collaboration between Jackie, former Masterchef last four finalist with her second vegan cookbook just under her belt (our review here) and Charlotte O’Toole, baker extraordinaire, once of Home Sweet Home and Milk Jam.
