Help vote for the best street food in the North at this year’s British Street Food Awards

9 August 2022 by Deanna Thomas

Food fans will have the chance to visit some of the best street food traders from across the region over August Bank Holiday weekend, as the Northern Heat of the British Street Food Awards is being held in Manchester.

The BSFA heats are famous for their incredible food line-up, where the best street food outlets in the whole of the UK compete against each other to win the ultimate accolade. This year, the local line-up includes Unagi, Porco, Kara’s Kitchen, Archchi's, Posh Street Food, Shoot The Bull, Ted’s Tacos, Skullduggery, Pellizco, and DOSA.

Taking place from 12 noon until 8pm on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 August at Circle Square on Oxford Road, food fans will be able to help crown the best street food vendor in the North. One of the best local breweries, North Brewing Co, will also be supporting the event offering a full bar all weekend.

Entry to the event is free and visitors are encouraged to come and sample the very best street food the region has to offer, drink and vote to select the 2022 People’s Choice. The public vote will be included along with votes from an expert panel of chefs, food writers and street food experts who will help choose the overall street food Champion. This year, the stellar line-up of judges includes former BSFA champion Claire Kelsey of Manchester’s Ginger's Comfort Emporium.

Manchester will be the last of four regional heats and the winners will then go on to the grand finals in London next month.

On the Friday (26 August), Manchester’s biggest and friendliest street food operator GRUB will also host GRUB Carnival, a smaller curated collection of street food vendors to help get a taste for the awards the following day.

Manchester’s newest neighbourhood, Circle Square (a joint venture between Bruntwood SciTech and Vita Group) already plays host to some of Manchester’s most exciting new independent restaurants and bars including pan-Asian dining concept Hello Oriental, Bird of Prey, and Canvas – with many more to come - all centred around the new city Symphony Park.

The event is free entry on 27 and 28 August 2022 12 noon - 8pm at Circle Square, Oxford Road, M1 7ED. More details can be found at the event page: HERE
