Hidden Banquet 4 – ‘Technology' by Deliveroo moves to London Road

22 September 2016 by Neil Sowerby

MANCHESTER Food and Drink Festival’s Hidden Banquets series, programmed in partnership with developers Allied London, allows festival-goers to explore some of the city’s secret, undiscovered and down right jaw dropping spaces, in association with exciting chefs and food heroes, all in the context of Manchester’s cultural identity and heritage.

The latest dinner to be announced is Technology by Deliveroo at Sound Stage Two, a showcase for some of the city’s best restaurants in London Road Fire Station. It’s a further chance to see this iconic space, also the venue for the first Hidden Banquet with Aiden Byrne (now sold out).

There are just 100 tickets being sold at a bargain price of just £38 a head – available here

Why Technology as the them? A no brainer. The event on Saturday, October 1 explores Manchester’s major contribution to technology – as a the birthplace of the computer and now as one of the world’s most cutting edge cities.

The event is, appropriately, sponsored by one of the most successful food apps of all time, Deliveroo, and their clients. There’ll be guest talks on apps that have changed our lives, all in a TED talk style, plus a commentary from historian Jonathan Schofield, putting Manchester’s contribution to technology in context.

Dinner will come in the form of a five course banquet courtesy of five different Deliveroo restaurants and deliveroo’d fresh from their kitchens – Tampopo, Salvi’s, Almost Famous, Scene and Vapiano. Wine is by Veeno. Guests are also invited to bring their own booze to accompany the rest of the banquet!

A donation from tickets will be made to StreetSmart – the Christmas charity scheme where participating restaurants add a voluntary £1 to the bill over November and December and the monies collected are donated to local, Greater Manchester homeless charities.

The three other Hidden Banquets are Innovation by Aiden Byrne (sold out) on Friday September 30, TV by MilkJam on Thursday, October 6, Industry  by Dan Doherty on Saturday, October 8. Buy tickets via the festival website,

The MFDF brochure is now available across the city or you can download it via this link.
