Hidden tapas pop-up with £3 plates: Maricarmen in Ancoats

18 February 2024 by Rhiannon Ingle

If you're searching for an incredible little spot in town where you can dine like a Spanish local without blowing the bank, then look no further than Maricarmen tucked away in the heart of Ancoats.

While you may be sitting in the centre of Manchester, this little tapas pop-up will have you feeling like you're dining around a hidden gem in one of España's buzzing streets. Serving up authentic dishes like Ensaladilla with anchovies, Grilled artichokes, Arroz negro with squid and alioli, Castellana meatballs and Pluma Ibérica with Padron peppers - Maricarmen is sure to hit the spot. And be sure to try out their Agua de Valencia cocktail (a punchy union of cava, orange juice, vodka and gin) to wash it all back with.

Even better? Join the lovely lot over at Maricarmen every Wednesday and Thursday for their ‘El Tableo’ where each tapas plate is just £3 - cheaper than an oat flat white. You don't even need to order as tapas boards will find their way to your table and all you need to do is select the ones you want to try out. At the end of your meal, the staff will simply count up all your empty tapas boards and plates to work out your total bill. Their à la carte menu is also available every Friday and Saturday.
