As ever, there is a huge amount going on at the Food and Drink Festival, this weekend so we have picked out some highlights for you to tuck into.
Oktoberfest
In the heart of Albert Square, get cosy at a real life bierkeller and sample the full range of Veltins authentic German beers. Free musical accompaniment is on the main stage with performances by brass bands, authentic Bavarian ensembles and more. (Fri 5 â Sun 7 Oct, Festival Hub, Albert Square, noon -11pm, free).
Chilli Eating Contest
This third annual chilli-eating contest sees contestants pitted against each other on stage in a battle to see who can handle the most heat. (Fri 5 Oct, Festival Hub, Albert Square, 6pm, free to attend, email alexa@foodanddrink to register as a contestant).
Independent Manchester Beer Convention
This two-day celebration of beer features the countryâs most progressive craft brewers. Sample over 60 beers from cask and keg with gourmet hot dogs (from Dirty Dogs) and coffee by Has Bean roasters on the side. Two sessions per day run from noon-4.30pm and 5.30-11pm. Manchester Food and Drink Festival Big 15 Party
