House of Peroni pop-up blends hi-tech art and glitzy cocktails

30 March 2017

YOU’VE got to hand it to Peroni, they put on quite a show, which quite transcends the blandness of the original core product, the beer. For four days next week (Wed, April 5 to Sa, April 8) the coolest place to hang out in Manchester city centre will be the House of Peroni pop-up in Spinningfields, blending hi-tech Renaissance-style art with a Peroni Nastro Azzurro beer and cocktail bar.

Once again the cocktails are of a a beery bent with a glitzy makeover. Talented mixologist Simone Caporale will offer his Oro Liquido (gin, Peroni Nastro Azzurro and sweet, spring-like citrus notes) and L’Astratto (a long, more bitter serve featuring flavoured, coloured ice cubes). A fragrant take on the traditional Bellini, the Peroni Peony features crisp white peach, grape, peony and magnolia flowers. Inevitably, there’s the classic Peroni Negroni and a selection of antipasti in the bar area.

This is accompanied by a feast for the eyes. The brand has teamed up with Beautiful Crime Agency and three featured artists to produce bespoke art using technology from Tilt Brush by Google.

Customers will be able to virtually step inside the artworks and explore the pieces, before being given the freedom to experiment and explore their own artistic talent, under the guidance of an expert.

Brit artist Carne Griffiths, along with 2016 Lumen Prize winner Fabio Giampietro and Italian graffiti artist, Peeta, have each created virtual reality pieces around the theme of ‘craftsmanship’.

Italian artist Fabio Giampietro (2016 winner of the Lumen Prize for digital art) has drawn on his early childhood memories with his carpenter uncle and blended this with his love of the ‘Futurismo’ art movement of the early 20th century.

Brit artist Carne Griffiths spent 12 years as an embroidery designer, from which came a fascination with the creation and manipulation of the drawn line.

Italian artist Peeta has looked to his own heritage and experience in the art world to bring his work to life – using Venetian ‘Murano’ glassware as his muse.
