I AM KLOOT WILL BE IN MANCHESTER FOR THE INAUGURAL WHISKY SESSIONS FESTIVAL

23 May 2014

I Am Kloot and Gomez are revealed as the headline acts for the two-day music & whisky festival to be held at Victoria Warehouse, with British Sea Power and Turin Brakes also announced.

Manchester will be the first destination for The Whisky Sessions, a new music and whisky festival in which I Am Kloot and Gomez will be headlining the two-day event.

At Victoria Warehouse on 21  & 22 November, music lovers will get to experience and taste a wide range of whiskies while enjoying a stellar line-up of more than twenty blues, americana, folk, singer-songwriter, and indie acts performing across two stages.

The Whisky Sessions will be the exclusive Manchester appearance in 2014 for both I Am Kloot and Gomez, and sees Gomez returning to the UK for their first Manchester show since 2011.

John Bramwell, lead singer of I Am Kloot said “I'm looking forward to our only Manchester gig of the year. It's a great venue. I saw a few bands play there at the 6 music festival and was very impressed. We'll be performing in our original three-piece line up and as usual punching well above our weight. Kloot fans can Facebook us any song requests and we'll do our best to add them to the list.”

As well as the headline acts there will be performances from British Sea Power, Turin Brakes, Admiral Fallow, The Riptide Movement, Matthew & the Atlas, Jon Allen, Treetop Flyers, Emily Barker & The Red Clay Halo, Marcus Bonfanti, The Young Folk, Lisbee Stainton and Rainy Boy Sleep, with more bands to be announced in the coming months.

Against this vibrant music backdrop, whisky experts and bartenders will be leading tastings on a range of premium whiskies from around the world, with The Whiskey Jar team in Manchester concocting some unique whisky cocktails especially for the event.

The Whisky Sessions concept was developed by The Ingenius Events Company (an IWSC Group company) to introduce whisky’s rich traditions and heritage to a wide audience, and is sure to be a lively celebration of the best of whisky and music, with something to suit all palettes.

Allen Gibbons, Group Chief Executive of IWSC Group, commented, “We’re delighted to be revealing The Whisky Sessions, which we feel is a unique music experience with a whisky twist. Whisky has been the source of inspiration for countless numbers of musicians over the years, and as the world is currently exploding with great new whiskies emanating from both traditional and new countries, we thought it was a great time to get the two together.”

Music-lovers will also be able to sample a flavour of The Whisky Sessions before the main event in Manchester. There will be two pop-up Whisky Sessions in June this year, at the Isle of Wight Festival and Foodies Festival on Clapham Common.
