Independent coffee 'summit' in Salford

MANCHESTER’S great at celebrating thriving food and drink independents. Witness the Manchester Food and Drink Festival and IndyManBeerCon. Now the craft coffee community is showcasing the best this cottage industry has to offer.

The Cup North event takes place Cup North will be taking place in the arts hub, Artwork, on Greengate, M3 7NG on November 1 and 2 2014.

Events running throughout the two days will give visitors the chance to learn, sample and buy some of the outstanding coffee roasted in the UK. It will feature demos, talks, tastings, and more. Other aspects of the industry will be represented by tea and chocolate merchants, independent street food vendors and brewers. For a full list of exhibitors visit this link. Advance tickets cost £10 for saturday and Sunday admission (11am-6pm) and it's £18 for a two-day pass.

Meanwhile, the influential Shortlist magazine has named two of the Northern Quarter’s finest among The Coolest Coffee Shops In The UK. They are Takk in Tarriff Street and North Tea Power on Tib Street. Both, naturally, feature too on the shortlist (sic) for Coffee Bar or Tea Shop Of The Year in the Manchester Food and Drink Awards.
