TOM is excited by the new wave of Indian restaurants colonising the city centre. We expect to have full details soon of Leeds incomer Bundobust’s plans for its Piccadilly site.
Meanwhile, the opening last week of Indian Tiffin Room brings authentic street food flavours from South India ands other regions cuisine to the First Street frontier, alongside HOME. The tiny original in Cheadle village was often way oversubscribed by punters eager to sample their range of entil fritters, thali, chaats and kebabs. Carnivore tand-out may well be the ITR Lamb, but we’d happily tackle one of their signature Masala Dosa pancakes with coconut chutney, tomato chutney and sambar (below).
The colourful, eclectic look with murals and garlands has transferred, too – evidence of the marketing flair of founding duo Srini Sundaram and Suresh Raje Urs, whose ‘street food’ savvy chefs toil in a a big blue shipping container.
