Cumbria-based Invisible Systems wins MIDAS Award for Supply Chain Solutions

Award-winning chef Andrew Nutter presents innovation award

MIDAS, Manchester’s inward investment agency, sponsors Food NW Awards 2008


Celebrity chef Andrew Nutter presented the MIDAS Award, which recognises innovation in the North West’s food and drink industry, to Invisible Systems Ltd. at the Food NW Awards 2008 held last night.

Cumbria-based Invisible Systems Ltd., which designs wireless systems for monitoring the temperature of food and drink, won the MIDAS Award for Supply Chain Solutions.

Organised by industry champion Food Northwest, the awards showcase the strong heritage of the food and drink sector in the region. The gala event, hosted by Granada TV’s Lucy Meacock at the Liverpool Arena & Convention Centre, was focused on the theme "Celebrating a Culture of Success".

MIDAS, the Manchester inward development agency, sponsored the event. Manchester-based companies including Kelloggs, Kerry Foods, Scottish & Newcastle, Weetabix and Danish Crown joined MIDAS for the prestigious event.

Andrew Ruffler, Business Development Manager at MIDAS, said: “The MIDAS Award acknowledges the very best in innovation in the food and drink sector for which the competition was tough. Invisible Systems won the award after developing temperature control systems that improve levels of safety, efficiency and sustainability, all of which are critical for success.

The North West is the largest food and drink-producing region in England and Wales, yielding a Gross Value Added (GVA) totalling £9.5 billion. The Manchester city region has established a strong tradition in the sector, with over 4,000 businesses employing more than 26,000 people and producing a turnover in excess of £900 million.
