EATING and drinking is a family affair in Italy – from bambinis to nonnas – so it’s entirely appropriate that this year’s Festa Italiana should also offer a terrific kids’ programme.
Back in Cathedral Gardens across the weekend of July 13-15, this celebration of Italy’s artisan food has announced a new partnership with entertainment specialists Play Factore, sponsors of the children’s area.
So throughout the weekend their Circus House team will be performing and giving youngsters the chance to learn plate spinning and hula hoops, trapeze artistry and juggling in the Festa Marquee.
All of which should work up quite an appetite for the kids’ cookery sessions, culminating in pasta masterclasses with Carmela Sereno Hayes from 12pm on the Sunday (following a session for grown-ups on the sSaturday).
Northants-based but with ith Southern Italian roots, Carmela organises cookery events and has just published her latest book, A Passion for Pasta.
The Play Factore Circus House will be open from 3-5pm on Friday 13 and from 11am-5pm on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15. All activities are free to join in and children must be accompanied by an adult.
