UNITED legend Gary Neville swapped the punditry for pans at the Manchester Food and Drink Festival to showcase some of the dishes on offer at his new Hotel Football, which opens on December 8.
Gary took to the stage in Albert Square for a live cook-off in the company of the hotels executive chef, Brendan Fyldes, and creative director, two-star Michelin chef, Michael Wignall. Co-owner Ryan Giggs was nowhere to be seen!
The cook-off served as an exclusive preview of the food punters can expect from Hotel Football a cuisine that has already been honed at the same teams Cafe Football in Stratford, East London.
It includes football-themed dishes such as The Boss burger, The Treble Pies and Grass Root Salad, but the Pie, Mash and Liquor dish has been scrapped in favour of a steak and kidney pudding and Vimto trifle is also being trialled. Also we can expecy a Manchester Tart with a twist.
Fellow Class of 92 ex-stars Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and Philip Neville are also involved in the 133-bed hotel and conference facility that aims to capture an authentic slice football culture. The hotel will offer bespoke hospitality packages on match days.
