Is there any better way to celebrate the Easter Bank Holiday than with a fine beer and a BBQ? KRO2 donât think so. For the Oxford Road bar is hosting its 3rd biannual Beer and Cider Festival this weekend (April 1 â 5), when the spacious beer garden will be abuzz with live music and more than 40 real ales, 20 ciders and a variety of whiskies will be available to indulge in. A tasty BBQ will also bring some much needed sizzle into spring.
Among the bounty of brews on offer throughout the free festival is Prospect Breweryâs Big Jon and Silver Tally; Boggart Breweryâs Boggart Rum Porter and Boggart Ruby Tuesday; Bollington Breweryâs Bollington Nights and White Nancy; Bank Top Breweryâs Leprechaun Stout and Dark Mild; Brass Monkey Breweryâs Organ Grinder and Chocolate and Orange; Outstanding Breweryâs Standing Out, Ginger and Blonde; Allgate Breweryâs Napoleonâs Retreat and Yankee and Storm Breweryâs Bosley Cloud and Silk of Amnesia. The list of ciders features Perrys Farmhouse, Richs Cider, Chucklehead, Severn and Westons.
Also on the menu for the weekend is an exciting line-up of local bands and musicians to entertain the crowds. Kicking off the festival tomorrow (Thursday) evening is Peter Churchman at 6pm, followed by Hawker Reunion at 9pm. Hawker Reunion will then return for a second serving on Friday at 8pm and Saturday will feature Beat the Radar at 4pm. Sunday will see Mike Nashâs Open Mike entertain audiences from 2pm. A festival highlight will be the KRO Rib-off, where the public will get the chance to judge which KRO chef makes the tastiest ribs to wash down with a cool beer. The winnerâs recipe will then become a finger-licking fixture on the KRO menu.
Following the success of KROâs previous festivals, this free Bank Holiday event is sure to be a highlight of the Easter weekend, but of you canât wait, then get down to KRO2âs German Beer Tasting event tonight (Wednesday).
