MANCHESTER must now be the world’s thirstiest city. News comes of further metropolitan bar operators keen to slake those all-day thirsts and, of course, cater for our further cravings for the likes of Wagyu burgers with blue cheese.
Drake & Morgan have announced two new sites to open in the city over the next 12 months – unsurprisingly in Spinningfields and St Peter’s Square.
At Allied London’s landmark XYZ (Cotton) Building, set to open on the Leftbank, D&M will recreate The Refinery, successful on London’s Bankside (pictured above) and at Regent’s Place. Autumn is the target for this 185 cover space offering creative cocktails, global wines from an enomatic machine and a seasonal British menu using local ingredients, created by exec chef Robert Mitchell
Much the same all-day formula – will apply to their second project, also 185 covers, inside the One St Peter’s Square development. This one’s scheduled for next spring.
These bars, alongside new openings in London’s East India Quay, Heathrow’s Terminal 4 and Edinburgh’s St Andrew’s Square, will take the London-based group’s total portfolio to 14. They all look gladdeningly upmarket and reassuringly familiar, but what do they really bring to OUR party?
