The Manchester super-deli chain âLove Saves the Dayâ has opened a new outlet on Dale Street, just next to Piccadilly Basin. The latest addition to the chain takes their total number of stores to three, with shops also located on Deansgate and Thomas Street.
Love Saves the Day was established in the mid-Nineties with the intention of bringing well sourced, quality wine, coffee and food under one roof. Even though, over the years, LSTD has moved on numerous occasions, opening ill-fated shops on Oldham St and Tib St, their philosophy about what they stock has never changed, and has allowed them to grow into one of the cityâs great success stories.
The new Dale St shop is smaller and has a more modern and refined style, different to the rustic image that defines the other two shops. The range of edible delights, however, remains undiminished, serving the best of local (and not-so-local) produce. Darragh, the store manager explains âwe provide all the staples of a local store, like bread and milk, through to wine and beer.â? The other great thing is that virtually all the food that is prepared for eating in can also be bought as ingredients to take away.
They sell a fabulous selection of meat and fish from the Cheshire Smokehouse, filled pastas from the Fresh Pasta Company and Pinks sausages in their fridges, along with Mawsons and Fentimans soft drinks. They have wines from around the world and beers for local breweries (for consumption in or for taking out). Also worthy of note is their ever expanding range of Love Saves the Day labelled produce, including beers, wines, chutneys, coffee and more. I settled for a large latte and a big piece of carrot cake, what more could you ask for?
