THE Manchester Food and Drink Festival has released the shortlists for its prestigious Manchester Food and Drink Awards, to be handed out at the end of this year’s festival, the 20th.
The awards, which will be handed out at a Gala Dinner at The Principal Hotel, Manchester on Monday, October 9, remain the most sought-after and prestigious in the North West, celebrate its wealth of innovative and high quality restaurants, bars and individuals.
There are three new awards for 2017 raising the total to an appropriate 20 – Best Brewery, Best Vegetarian Offering and Best Sustainable Food & Drink Business, all of which have been added to reflect the growth in these areas.
Manchester’s microbrewery scene has become an international tourism attraction, while, as the birthplace of vegetarianism, Manchester is also at the heart of the current trend towards a meat free lifestyle. The Best Sustainable Food & Drink Business award is born out of the Festival’s ambition to support and recognise commitment to environmental and ethical food and drink practices.
The shortlisted venues below have been officially nominated for an MFDF award by the MFDF judging panel that comprises the region’s leading food and drink critics and experts. The award nominations are posted on the MFDF website giving the public the chance to vote for their choices. Their votes will be combined with scores from the judging panel.
