THOSE hop-happy folk at GRUB are hosting a Bank Holiday Weekend treat for beer lovers. The Beer Up Here is a new summer festival showcasing over 100 breweries and 200 beers from all over the north of the UK – from Buxton to Orkney, from Northern Ireland to Northumberland and from Yorkshire to Cumbria, not forgetting a dedicated 100 per cent Manchester bar.
There will be five session across three days in the Fairfield Social Club. GRUB emphasise it’s all about fun and not just for the craft beer geeks. So everyone is welcome including dogs and kids and you don't need to know everything about beer to enjoy yourself.
Almost all of the beers at the festival will be 'session beers', classic beers designed to be supped all day that you can enjoy a pint of. The breweries picked range from local modern craft beer heroes such as Track Brewery to classic traditional family brewers such as Joseph Holts.
Stomach liners? On hand to provide amazing beer snacks in the form of pork pies, scotch eggs and veggie deli treats will be Beehive Food.
GRUB director Jason Bailey told us “It's super important for us that our beer is produced locally, there's really no reason to go too far to find outstanding beer and we reckon this festival really shows that off. We can't wait to see everyone down at the festival enjoying a smashing pint.”
Fri 24- Sun 26 Aug, Fairfield Social Club, Archway 6, Temperance Street, Manchester M12 6HR. 12pm-8pm. Five sessions spread over the three days. £5 per session. For full details of brewery list and and to book tickets visit this link. A number of tickets will be held on the door for walkups.
