IT’S almost like Lord Lucan galloping Shergar into Heaton Park. The inaugural Manchester Eats festival (July 7-8) has signed up the legendary Marco Pierre White for a cookery demo, Q&A session and book signing.
The one time enfant terrible of the British food and drink scene has rarely been seen in kitchen whites since he walked out on his three Michelin stars back in 1999 to become a serial restaurateur for hire.
Marco, who has recently launched his Mr White’s English Chop House in Manchester’s Gay Village, joins an impressive chef line-up that includes Ed Baines (Randall & Aubin), Adam Reid (The French) and TV chef and Marco protege Matt Tebbutt,
It’s quite a coup for the new festival in Heaton Park, which touches most food and drink bases and is very hands-on. Visitors will be able to participate in cookery classes, including vegan and vegetarian, a chocolate masterclass and cooking for kids.
