ALTRINCHAM is losing its rum-fuelled Caribbean hot spot – for the moment at least. Marigot Bay Bar & Café in King’s Court is to shut its doors despite a successful first year of operating.
Owner Dave Marsland, aka ‘Drinks Enthusiast’, announced the closure of the iintimate courtyard bar on social media: “With the uncertainty surrounding King’s Court which has materialised after signing our lease back in May 2018, we have decided to move our slice of the Caribbean elsewhere!.”
He promises a new home soon for his collection of 140 rums, monthly cocktail specials and Dominican Republic coffee, all served to a s soundtrack from traditional Jamaican radio stations.
Meanwhile, if you need to feed your rum habit, we suggest you book your place at this year’s Manchester Rum Festival, founded and run by Mr Marsland. Now in its third year, it will take place in the atmospheric Brickworks events space under the Barton Arcade. Some tickets are still on sale at £20 plus booking fee for the Saturday, June 8 grogathon, now with two sessions 12-5pm and 6-11pm. Buy them here.
