AUMBRY’S Mary-Ellen McTague has announced her return to Prestwich to host a three-month residency at the popular neighbourhood bar, Cuckoo.
Following the success of city centre pop-up restaurant, 4244 Edge Street, the multi-award winning chef and her team will be bringing their immaculately sourced, historically-influenced British cooking to Cuckoo’s intimate location from Friday, January 23 onwards.
Mary-Ellen McTague said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be continuing my culinary presence in Prestwich. The team and I are really excited to get started and we hope to build on the success of 4244 in this new location, which is particularly close to my heart.”
Dave Rigby, owner of Cuckoo (pictured above with Mary-Ellen), added: “We’re delighted to welcome Mary-Ellen and her team back to Prestwich. Cuckoo and Mary-Ellen share a common philosophy and we hope this partnership will bring a fresh offering to our patrons, while also attracting some new faces to the venue.”
Food will be available from 6-9:30pm Wednesday to Saturday as well as 12-2:30pm Thursday to Saturday and 10am-8pm Sunday, all-day brunch menu. Expect snacks such as Aumbry classic Scotch egg with homemade ketchup (pictured); small plates such as rabbit terrine with truffled leeks and larger plates that might include venison stew served with thyme and juniper dumplings and sprout tops or roast hake with champ and cockles.
Aumbry and its neighbour restaurant, Bombay, are being redeveloped together to form a new Solita.
