This October, Rudy's - the popular Manchester-born Neapolitan pizzeria which has amassed a cult following - is celebrating 10 years of serving up seriously good food. To mark the occasion, they're cooking up a week of festivities, kicking off with a very special appearance from the original founders at the first-ever Rudy’s Pizza in Ancoats next week (Monday 20th October).
Pizza lovers in Manchester are invited to join in the 10th birthday celebrations and enjoy surprise giveaways and a new, limited-edition specials menu featuring all-time favourites such as Ancosezze (Fior di latte + Campania smoked provola. Topped with Tuscan fennel sausage, + friarielli roasted with Sicilian chilli, sea salt and wild garlic. Finished with fresh red chilli + aged pecorino). Other specials featured on the birthday menu include:
Garden Greens (Roast garlic cream base, topped with mixed greens from Jim + Kate’s kitchen garden, Kalamata olives, smoked mozzarella + confit chilli)
Meridio (Fior di latte base, topped with Puglian sun-dried tomatoes, red onions, fresh green chillies + Calabrian oregano)
Affumicata (Fior di latte + Campania smoked provola. Topped with Kalamata olives, chilli flakes + friarielli roasted with Sicilian chilli, sea salt and wild garlic)
Inspired by original co-founders Jim Morgan and Kate Wilson’s travels to Naples, Rudy’s Pizza first opened its doors in Ancoats in 2015, dishing up authentic Neapolitan pizzas to the Manchester community. Mission Mars acquired the business in 2017 and has now grown the business to 36 pizzerias nationwide. Rudy’s has even opened its very own state-of-the-art pizza training facility in Manchester for its pizzaioli - The Academy - upholding the business’ commitment to Neapolitan authenticity.
On Monday 20th October, Rudy’s Pizza Ancoats will welcome original co-founders Jim and Kate back into its kitchen once again.
Commenting on the milestone, Managing Director of Rudy’s Pizza Neal Bates, said: “We’re delighted to be marking 10 years of Rudy’s Napoletana, right here where it all started in Ancoats. Jim and Kate, the original founders, were always so passionate about true Neapolitan pizza — how could Rudy’s create the most authentic, best-quality pizza possible? Borrowing and learning from the masters in Naples, and bringing a local pizza style from the late 1500s, Ruota di Carro, to the streets of Manchester, they created something magical.
“We’re proud to have taken on the mantle from them, and our team of pizzaioli and front-of-house continue to stay true to those early principles of great quality and value, served with a welcoming and friendly smile. What’s so special is that we still serve guests today who first joined us back in 2015; it means a lot to still be part of such an incredible, culturally rich local community. A huge thank-you to all the thousands of guests who have dined in Ancoats over the years — we look forward to continuing to serve you for the next 10.”
Rudy’s birthday celebrations will run from Monday 20th – Sunday 26th October.
