NAPLES ON A BUDGET: Conni’s Pizzeria brings a slice of 'la dolce vita' to Blackfriars Road

Anyone into Italian cuisine has been properly treated as of recently with a delightful array of new menu launches, Italo takeovers at the best venues and a whole bunch of new restaurant openings.

And the latest buzz is all about the absolutely legendary Conni’s Focacceria, ran by two brothers, Francesco and Lieno, from Naples.

The renowned focacceria, which stocks some gorgeous fresh cheeses, sweet cannoli and - of course - foccaccia bread, has become loved for its authentic Italian deli and it has just set up a new sister location, Conni’s Pizzeria, just minutes from the city centre.

Nestled on Salford's buzzing Blackfriars Road, making neighbours with the beloved Black Friar pub, Conni’s Pizzeria is all about ‘redefining’ the pizza scene in the city.

The joint just opened at the end of last month and the team are now in full swing serving up a cracking selection of offerings served with the freshest produce including the ‘world’s spiciest pizza’ alongside some proper authentic and wallet-friendly options including the Marinara for £6.50, the white-based Salsiccia e Friarielli coming in at £10.95 and the stellar Neapolitan Margherita which is sure to make you feel like you’re dining in a quaint little trattoria in southern Italy for just £8.50.

Diners can also enjoy some new takes on classics like the Alla Romana (£12.90), inspired by the carbonara with crispy guanciale, as well as a pizza featuring 'mamma's' ragu sauce with handmade meatballs topped with burrata and pecorino for  (£10.95).

If you’ve got a sweet tooth, you can finish your meal with a lovely homemade desert with the likes of tiramisu, almond cake, Torte Della Nonna and a family-recipe pastiera of puff pastry filled with cream cheese, barley and candied fruit.

And to wash it back?

Well, Francesco and Lieno have you covered as Conni’s Pizzeria is also a little slice of paradise for any vino connoisseurs as the pizzeria has sorted a cracking selection of the finest Italian wines, specifically picked out to perfectly complement the food.

Whether you opt for a Birra Antoniana by the bottle or try out a Crodino spritz - Conni’s Pizzeria is definitely one to check out this summer.
