Manchester’s ever-bustling Market Street is about to welcome a brand-new, high-energy food hall.
The historic Rylands Building, a Grade II listed Art Déco treasure that used to house Debenhams, has secured a new tenant: Market Place Food Hall.
This marks the brand’s first northern outpost, following successful venues in London’s Peckham, Vauxhall, Harrow, Baker Street, and St Paul’s.
Spanning a whopping 14,000–14,200 sq ft of ground‑floor space, the food hall is set to host around 14 independent kitchens, a cocktail bar, DJ turntables, pool tables and cocktails on tap - all of which are sure to provide a buzzing atmosphere from lunchtime through to the late evening.
Blake Henderson, Managing Director of Market Place said: “We’ve had our eye on Manchester for a long time. It’s a city that thrives on creativity, culture and community, which is exactly what we’re all about.
“Our goal has always been to create inclusive, high-energy spaces that celebrate independent food vendors. This opening is just the beginning of our Northern journey, and we couldn’t be more excited to get started in the capital of the North."
We'll see building completion in late 2026 and, in spring 2027, we'll finally get to celebrate the food hall grand opening!
