San Carlo Group, who own San Carlo on King Street West, and sister restaurant Cicchetti, has announced a £700,000 investment and expansion programme at its flagship restaurant on Manchesterâs King Street West. The funds will enable this favourite of sports stars and celebrities to create new facilities and refurbish existing ones.
Planned renovations include development of the ground floor to create new patisserie and ice cream making facilities to serve the groupâs restaurants in the north (we already think that Cicchettiâs choc-chip ice cream is the best in town so this is great news).
Private dining
There will also be the creation of a new private dining room, new bathrooms and more covers. Work has begun, but the restaurant will close for three weeks from Monday 6th August to enable renovations to be completed.
In the seven years since San Carlo opened, the group have launched the award-winning San Carlo Cicchetti which serves delicious, small, Venitian-inspired plates. In November last year it was reviewed, surprisingly favourably, by Jay Rayner.
They also have eight more branches around the UK, plus a number of Signor Sassi outlets in Beirut, Kuwait and Bangkok. This August also sees the opening of a second London restaurant, Cicchetti at 215 Picadilly, drawing on the success of Manchesterâs outlet.
